Molly-Mae Hague has addressed criticism following the release of the second season of her Amazon Prime Documentary Behind It All, after being branded “out of touch” and “bratty” by some viewers.
In a new YouTube vlog, the 26-year-old influencer and former Love Island star opened up about the backlash and revealed she has permanently deleted her TikTok account.
She began the video by telling her two million subscribers it had “definitely been an interesting week” before explaining her decision. “To be honest with you, it’s been, quite frankly, one of the best decisions I ever made,” she said.
While admitting she’s grown “thick skin” over the years, Molly-Mae added, “There’s just something about that app that just feels so insanely toxic.”
The influencer said she had avoided most of the criticism since deleting TikTok but admitted she was “alarmed” after briefly looking at her makeup artist’s phone.
“I saw at least three things within that short time that I didn’t want to see,” she explained. “So, I’m definitely not rushing to get the app back anytime soon.”
Molly-Mae went on to thank fans for their supportive messages about the series. “It’s never ever been to do anything other than just create something for people to watch and enjoy,” she said.
“And I think I’ve definitely learned a lot.” She added jokingly, “Do you know what’s really liberating? The fact that I’m not going to see any of this clipped on to TikTok.”
Reflecting on her nerves before the premiere, she said she anticipated much of the criticism. “People think I don’t know, but I literally said, ‘That’s going to cause this,’” she revealed.
Despite mixed reactions, she expressed gratitude to viewers who enjoyed the show, saying, “That’s all it was ever meant to be — just something for you guys to watch and enjoy. Love you millions.”
