Jimmy Kimmel, one of the popular late night show hosts, has been suspended from his job for an indefinite period following his viral comments about Charlie Kirk.
As per the sources, the staff members were working together for a usual episode on Wednesday, holding calls with talent publicists speaking to them about the upcoming episodes before Kimmel’s suspension was announced.
Meanwhile, the guests invited for the episode were already on their way to the El Capitan Theater where the 57-year-old records his regular show.
ABC decided to take the show off air just hours after the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair Brendan Carr declared that the Commission might revoke broadcast licenses.
They made the decision as a move to pressure Disney to teach Jimmy a lesson for the comments he made and hence, the host was suspended right before the Wednesday’s show.
Reactions from Publicists and Audiences:
Many staffers, publicists, media executives and producers were left stunned over the sudden decision.
A studio publicist told CNN, “I cannot believe this is real life”, while a celebrity publicist added, “We are all shell-shocked.”
Some audience members also expressed their views to the publication. There was a couple, who travelled to Los Angeles from Virginia to attend the show shared their views on the sudden suspension.
Michael Blackwell added, “Wake up America. We’re getting stuck on stupid.” Whereas his wife Gina said, “What about freedom of speech? Why would his show be cancelled for Jimmy Kimmel expressing his opinion?”
Jimmy Kimmel’s Remarks about Charlie Kirk:
In a viral clip, the TV host commented about the sensitive topic that wasn’t well-received by higher authorities.
He said on his show, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
