Coldplay reportedly faces lawsuit threat from Andy Byron after kiss cam fiasco

A lighthearted moment at a Coldplay concert turned into a major scandal for former tech boss Andy Byron, who is now said to be preparing lawsuit against the band after an awkward kiss cam incident that went viral.

The concert in Massachusetts featured a “kiss cam” segment that landed on Byron, who was the CEO of the data company Astronomer at the time, and the firm’s HR head Kristin Cabot.

The camera caught the two leaning close before they turned away and covered their faces. However, that reaction only fuelled speculation online and clips of the moment quickly spread across social media.

The story took another twist when sources told Page Six that Byron was preparing to sue Coldplay and the concert organisers for emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

“He didn’t consent to being filmed or publicly humiliated. He thinks Coldplay made him a meme,” a source claimed.

Legal experts began debating whether such a case could succeed.

Attorney Camron Dowlatshahi of MSD Lawyers said the ex CEO might pursue a defamation claim if he could prove Chris Martin’s joking comments about an “affair” were false.

Furthermore, Dowlatshahi noted that for that argument to hold, Byron would need to show there was no affair at all.

Both Byron and Cabot, who were each married to other people, were placed on leave from Astronomer. By July 25, the company’s board announced that Byron had resigned and Cabot also handed in her resignation.
